The platform used by Savait, was Magento, the solution from the giant Adobe. Among the many issues that emerged, the one that was hurting the business the most was the slow loading of site pages. The growth of Savait's online business was being severely constrained by an infrastructure on the Magento platform that was subject to slowdowns during traffic peaks and continued need for significant manual interventions required to handle day-to-day operations. When contacting us, the client expressed three specific needs: to revamp the look of the site and be able to update or modify it according to sales strategies, to have more control over site content and its publication, and to be able to easily manage product inventory and incoming orders.
Our actions
taken
In proceeding with the migration , we set some key points on which to focus our work. We wanted the customer to lose nothing and not perceive the migration as pejorative: customer and order history, organic traffic, integration with price comparators. Everything had to work the same way, if not better. We exported the customer listing from Magento and, after normalizing it, imported it to Shopify. To avoid losing organic traffic, we structured multiple 301 redirects from the old urls to the new ones. In this way, Google did not penalize the site as a result of the move to Shopify, but organic traffic increased, certainly helped by a more linear content structure and the implementation of structured data on the product page. This migration was completed in less than a month: the time-to-market of Shopify, is, once again, unbeatable.
